The greatest superhero and star of action
and adult films of all time, Italian Spiderman is instantly recognized
throughout the world and beyond. Throughout the 1960’s and 70’s, Italian
Spiderman pursued his film career having terrified the criminal underworld into
submission. He set his career aside temporarily and was portrayed by Franco
Franchetti from the late 70’s through the early 80’s beginning with L'Asteroide
contro Italian Spiderman (1971) which was later released in the United
States simply as Italian Spiderman
(1974). During that time, Italian Spiderman focused his attention on
creating an autobiographical adult film series which has recently seen the release
of its 238th volume.
When Franchetti retired from portraying
Italian Spiderman in film, the series began to experience financial
difficulties following the box office failure of Tuono e Fulmine nello Spazio! Interpretato
Italian Spiderman (1985). The series was placed
on indefinite hold until an American revivial was proposed. The film, titled Ragno,
was directed by James Foley
and was adapted from David Koepp’s screenplay.
It featured Jason Patric as
Italian Spiderman and was noteworthy for its darker interpretation of the
character. The completed film was screened for a small audience at Premi Flaiano in 1993 and
received universal acclaim. Callisto Cosulich
called it “the exaltation of filmmaking”, while Roger Ebert called it “a
Triumph” and “the best of neo-noir” praising the tense pacing and complex plot,
although he noted that the “brief but gut-wrenching” action sequences would be
too much for some. Vittorio
Mussolini said he was moved to tears by “the exploration of the brightest and
darkest places of man’s divided soul”.
Unfortunately, Italian Spiderman destroyed every copy of the film as well as a portion of two city blocks in Pescara. Following this, he resumed self portrayal in five more appearances starting with Tranquillamente Entra la Signora Maximum (1995) which resumed the saga following the events of Italian Spiderman is Dead (1976) and featured an attempt to resurrect Captain Maximum by collecting the four pieces of his corpse from outer space. The subplot explored the complex relationship between Italian Spiderman and his then wife Mrs. Maximum. This revival met with reasonable success worldwide and led to the creation of IS-Con in San Diego where Italian Spiderman has appeared several times to meet with fans.

Italian
Spiderman again left the film series following Italian Spiderman: Final Stop (1999) due to creative differences with
director Bryan Singer. A reboot has been discussed numerous times since 2002
with at least five separate and ultimately shelved projects attached to various
directors and writers (Shekhar Kapur, Alex Proyas, Lee Shapiro, Kevin
Smith) and actors in talks to assume the role (Nicolas
Cage, Ralph Fiennes, Ashton
Kutcher, Jason Lee, Christopher Walken). Finally, 2015 saw the
release of Italian Spiderman, a
reboot of the series directed by John Dahl with a screenplay
by J. J. Abrams and
featuring Riccardo
Scamarcio in the title role with Leornardo DiCaprio as
“Maximum” and Jennifer
Lawrence as “Venusia Amorepugno”. The film, which was more understated and
lighthearted than previous entries in the series, achieved great success in Italy but saw only
limited release in the United States. It has grossed 1.13 billion dollars
worldwide as of 2016 and has enjoyed praise from critics and moviegoers alike
currently holding an aggregate score of 91% at Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s release
was accompanied by the “make me a macchiato” viral marketing campaign in collaboration
with Starbucks. When asked his thoughts about the film, Italian Spiderman
reacted positively saying “Buona, mmmm molto bello. Ora girare intorno. Voglio
vedere la fine. Bello”.

Complications
Though not the only reason he gets up,
Italian Spiderman’s quest for justice
is his main motivation for leaving the bedroom.
A man of Italian Spiderman’s capabilities
and appetite for pussycats and striking evil acquires many enemies.
Italian Spiderman is a world renowned star
of action and adult cinema. His fame
always precedes him.
Italian Spiderman’s hatred of
disrespectful attitudes towards women has placed a great burden on the Italian
medical care industry.
As a result of Italian Spiderman’s appeal, he often
finds his time consumed by the responsibility
of a great deal of “house work”.

Description
With his fearsome gaze, Italian Spiderman can render
his enemies helpless or even turn a normal tarantula into an instrument of
slaughter.
Italian
Spiderman’s gaze can fix a target in place with fear. Italian Spiderman must succeed
an Intimidation check (DC 11) as a standard action. If successful, Italian
Spiderman makes a ranged attack check against his target. A hit character must
make a Will resistance check with a DC equal to Italian Spiderman’s Intimidation
check result (up to 18). If this check fails, the target is dazed. The target
is stunned instead if it fails by two degrees or paralyzed with three or more
degrees of failure.
This ability has
different (alternate) effects on some animals and human women. Italian
Spiderman must succeed an Intimidation check (DC 11) as a standard action. If
successful, the subject transforms into an empowered version with 15 character
points per point by which Italian Spiderman’s Intimidation check exceeds 10 (up
120 character points with a result of 18 or higher).
If Italian
Spiderman can see a normal spider that is not hostile to him, his gaze can
compel it to join his cause AND to fight like Italian Spiderman! The spider
temporarily gains new traits, leaps to the nearest open space (in relation to
Italian Spiderman) and acts on its own initiative starting on the round after
Italian Spiderman transforms it. The spider automatically has a helpful
attitude and does its best to aid Italian Spiderman and obey his commands,
usually to kill.
If the spider is
incapacitated while under Italian Spiderman’s control, it loses all of its
altered abilities and helpful altitude (essentially becoming a normal spider
again) before scuttling away with a healthy respect for Italian Spiderman
and a taste for human blood.
Lo Sguardo Mortale can also transform a normal
chicken into a
chicken capable of laying eggs on command or laying cigarettes instead of eggs.
The chicken gains no language or speaking ability but it does gain the Animal
Empathy
advantage allowing it to use its Insight skill to understand Italian Spiderman’s body
language and gestures.
Finally, Lo Sguardo Mortale can transform a normal attractive pussycat into a floozy with enhanced Stamina, Expertise in the arts of
love and an appetite for romance second only to that of Italian Spiderman.

make routine checks with that skill even when under pressure as with the Skill

Instead of taking
advantage of his natural appeal, Italian Spiderman can inspire others using his
majestic musical talent. Italian Spiderman can impose on other characters a fantastic
ability to get up and get down. Nice. Italian Spiderman must succeed an Expertise: Music check
(DC 11) as a standard action. Anyone able to hear Italian Spiderman’s exquisite
performance may attempt a Dodge resistance check with a DC equal to Italian
Spiderman’s check result (up to 18) to cover their ears, or otherwise ignore
this seductively sensual display. Affected targets may attempt a Will
resistance check (DC equal to Italian Spiderman’s check result - 15) to avoid
becoming super sexy dancers (they are transformed; see Conditions). They lose all
combat abilities and gain Expertise: Sexy Dance +18.

lasts as long Italian Spiderman continues his performance (as a standard

Itallian
Spiderman can prepare himself for combat by taking a moment to reflect, or

done so, Italian Spiderman immediately makes a DC 10 Healing check when he
suffers two or more degrees of damage. Each degree of success heals one Damage
condition, starting with the worst and working down. In the unlikely event that
Italian Spiderman is dying, the highest degree of success stabilizes him,
removing the dying condition. At that point, opponents should carefully
consider how they would like to enjoy their last moments in this world.

Description
Italian Spiderman can create a veritable whirlwind
of death with his attacks.
Any attack
effect Italian Spiderman wields (up to rank 8) gains multiattack.
Against a single
target, Italian Spiderman makes his attack check normally. If successful,
increase the attack’s resistance check DC by +2 for two degrees of success, and
+5 for three or more. This circumstance bonus does not count against power
level limits.
If the target
has enough Impervious Resistance ranks to ignore the attack before any increase
in the DC, then the attack still has no effect as usual.
Italian
Spiderman can also use attack effects of rank 8 or less to hit multiple targets
at once by “walking” or “spraying” the effect across an arc. He rolls one
attack check per target in the arc. His attack check suffers a penalty to each
check equal to the total number of targets.
Italian
Spiderman’s attacks can also provide cover for an ally, although it would be
highly unlikely for him to do so. He can
use a standard action and choose an ally (who is not engaged in close combat)
within his line of sight to receive the benefits of cover against all enemies
that are also in Italian Spiderman’s line of sight and within in range of his
attack effect. An opponent can choose to ignore the cover provided by Italian
Spiderman; at the cost of being automatically attacked by his effect! Italian
Spiderman makes a normal attack check to hit that opponent.
