Swoop’s missiles have a range of up to 8
miles (with a -5 circumstance penalty to hit at long range), however only
targets within 2 miles can be hit on the same turn that the missile is fired.
Missiles in flight have a speed rank of 9 and can be outrun by targets with
high enough ranks in a movement effect. Even with extended vision, Swoop is
unable to accurately perceive most targets outside of short range (he would
take a -13 penalty to Perception checks at the outer edge of that range).
Furthermore, the curvature of the Earth becomes an issue when firing at targets
within medium range unless Swoop is at a high enough elevation. Swoop can
overcome this somewhat by having a “spotter” assist him with targeting long
distances, but even so he is unlikely to hit anything other than stationary
targets this way.
